Flyover Geeks: You like us, you really, really like us! Awwww……

Paul Olson discovered Flyover Geeks and did some blogging about us. While we aren’t ones to toot our own horns…. wait a minute, we are ABSOLUTELY willing to toot our own horns…have you seen our ?

Besides being relentless self promoters, it is great to hear that Flyover Country has accepted us with open arms and . A rumor even reached my ears that a told a that our idea for a “Tech Crunch for the Rest of Us” is a great idea. Is it true? I sent off an email to him- let’s find out if we get a chance to talk soon.

The point is, word is spreading. In the two weeks Flyover Geeks has been up, 1600 of you have visited our site to check out what’s happening and a lot of you made it to our launch party. It has been an exciting ride so far and we are just gearing up. Michael Arrington– I am still looking at you when I say Chicago is Silicon City and we will NOT be ignored. And if we are not going to be fast friends, we are going to pass on by and give you a wave. After all, we’re friendly here in the Midwest.

What about the other cities? You have not been forgotten my friends. Right now the amazing and I are planning an event in Milwaukee where we are going to get together in September with a few hundred new friends and spread the good word.

Also, FG is looking for bloggers from people in other parts of Flyover Country. We need the news on startups, bloggers and other dynamic people in other cities. Think you’re up for it? Drop me a line at Edward[DOT]Domain[DOT]com

One last thing- many of you have been here but we haven’t started a conversation here yet- let’s start. Why not drop a comment in the area below and see what happens?

Let’s Talk!

I wonder who is going to leave the first comment…oh, wait…shoot. Who is going to leave the next one? Hopefully someone dynamic and awesome.

    *waits*

    Or just someone.

Err, to be honest, I think it would be somewhat of an insult to be lumped in with the likes of Tech Crunch. But I guess that's just one gal's opinion, a gal that hates TC. If you're striving to be THE go-to guys for tech news in Chi-town, you should get away from the stigma of "being just like everyone else" and be unique. As a side note, IndyGeek.net is doing it right. You should take note of them, since you're just starting out.

But I digress. Its a little odd and sad for you to be leaving the first comment on your own post.

Disclaimer: I am not in any way trying to be rude. I am merely being brutally honest.

I still enjoy TC but I will admit they have moved away from being a "hard" site just about startups like it was a few years ago. Funny how we talk like TC is SO old when its only got 5 candles on its birthday cake.

I appreciate the feedback on IndyGeek- I like the name already and will definitely be stopping by!

As for me posting my first comment- not only is it sad, its me. I talk to myself in the shower, the car, even when I think I'm talking to my girlfriend and she has tuned me out I'm really talking to myself. So I thought, "Self, let's chat" and here you are. Feeling trapped yet?

I am not insulted or feel you are rude. I was in the Army. There is nothing you can say a Drill Sergeant hasn't said 50 decibels louder or 100 times more scary- seriously though, thanks for stopping by and hope to see you around!

Heh, yeah, I stay away from TC altogether, mostly because I dislike Mike Arrington with a passion. He may be the creator of TC, but you have to be creative to be a creator. /endrant

Don't feel bad, I talk to myself too. And I feel like I talk to myself a lot on my blog when no one comments, so thats actually prolly something I would do.

Well, I am not the first to comment, but I just want to say thanks for starting FlyoverGeeks!! Silicon Valley always gets the press, and I appreicate you assembling bloggers to report on start ups, tech companies, and people from “flyover country”. Can't wait to see more!! I know your launch was in Chicago, but the Milwaukee area has a lot of great talent….
