Chicago based entrepreneur Jess Loren launched her new media property SocialTechPop today and it looks like it is going to be a good one.
STP is going to be run out of Chicago’s yet-to-be-officially launched Sync Technology Center. Mike Rhodes, founder of the center and the Sync Technology Fund said, “Chicago is dying for a voice to speak for the growing technology sector we have here. The Midwest has proved itself as a powerful stomping ground for start-ups, and SocialTechPop is the youthful voice this city needs.” Rhodes continued, “Think of it as Mashable for the Midwest. It’s already got a lot of buzz and people are looking forward to help this voice speak.”
Founder Jess Loren is already an accomplished entrepreneur having started the deal-a-day website called “Chitown Deals’ which she eventually sold to a firm in Seattle called Tippr.
Jess believes (as does Flyover Geeks) that Chicago is the Silicon Valley of the Midwest when she says, “SocialTechPop detects, uncovers, and explores the fabrics that tie our society together in this emerging digital age. Chicago is home to to some of the most famous and successful tech businesses in the industry.”
Flyover Geeks is looking forward to having another site join the tech community in Chicago reporting on the people, events and companies making Chicago the unique place it is.
